We’ve been working with Stella Collins, author of Neuroscience for Learning and Development and Creative Director at Stellar Learning to deliver programmes to instill real change.
Clients and their challenges interest us. Before they work with us they say things like:
We’ve changed; We have new technology, processes, strategy, culture, regulations but the last change didn’t work – can you help?
Our message isn’t sticking; We’re overwhelmed with information, people don’t take action and we keep repeating stuff.
People are stressed and aren’t engaged; We need more creativity, more agility, more critical thinking and problem solving and we need to be more resilient.
We don’t communicate; Everybody talks so much, nobody listens in meetings, I can’t persuade anyone to my view.
Are any of these challenges similar to the ones keeping you awake at night?
We believe when we understand what happens in our brains it becomes easier to communicate and work together effectively. That’s why we say ‘How you tick, make it stick’.
Let’s give you an example of using insights from neuroscience and psychology combined with practical tools and techniques to make learning ‘sticky’ and ‘brain friendly’, improving communication, compliance, productivity and profitability.
We know some great people who specialise in digital change in huge organisations. They have an effective system for driving change and making it stick but were aware there was a gap in the ‘people’ space that put long term change at risk. We worked together with the end client to deliver a short focused programme, in bite size chunks, which sold the vital change ‘messages’ and delivered skills in new technology interweaved with people skills based on neuroscience and psychology.
The ‘change agents’ in the programme discovered what happens in people’s heads during ‘change’ and the effect on people, attitudes and behaviours. The ‘brain’ context gave them greater confidence to address resistors and work more credibly with people who were simply feeling the pressure. They found combining the technology and people skills within sessions made them ‘stickier’ and more relevant. Six months after the start 100s of change agents, supporting 1,000s of colleagues are ensuring a transformational change programme is going to stick.
After they work with us clients say things like:
“Our most important client called to say she was ‘delighted’ with the new training format and would be encouraging many more people to attend – this has improved the business bottom line” Managing Director DEKRA Chilworth
“The Brain Friendly approach is the future of our learning culture” Sandra Lace, Head of Baltic Academy, Swedbank
“There is a gulf between those session leaders who haven’t attended your sessions and those who have” – Major pharmaceutical company UK
“I’m absolutely certain we will be able to deliver learning to our stores quicker and easier now“. James Hampton, L&D Manager, Seasalt Clothing
