Priority Management – don’t get caught up in the whirlwind

“Plan your work  and work your plan, every day” is something that we’ve probably all heard,  repeated and wish we did.   The trouble is its hard to do as unplanned events arise which get in the way,   tasks have to be completed just to keep things as they are and before you know it the day is over and you haven’t done what you’ve planned to do.

If you are in a customer facing and reactive role then planning your time and sticking to this can be hard, unless you make allowances for this in advance.

However if you are a manager or leader with responsibility for creating longer term strategic plans then ensuring these plans are executed should be top of your priority list, however in lots of cases its not.    The day job or the “whirlwind” gets in the way.   And this gets in the way of the staff that you are managing.

Franklin Covey have come up with 4 Disciplines required to ensure excellent in execution.  So take a look and invest the time in the video below if you have any issues with poorly executed strategy.
